Munson Machinery - Mixing, Blending, and Bulk Solids Processing Equipment

We help manufacturers improve dry blending, reduce lumps, control particle size, screen materials, increase consistency, and solve difficult bulk solids processing challenges.

Munson equipment supports food, beverage, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, chemical, minerals, plastics, recycling, and industrial applications where reliable mixing, gentle handling, cleanability, and repeatable production results matter.

Is your priority gentle mixing with accessible internal surfaces?

Munson Vee Cone Blenders rotate two inclined cylinders so material repeatedly converges and divides. The standard tumbling vessel has smooth internal surfaces, with an optional intensifier for selected duties.

Typical application
Review dry pharmaceutical, nutritional, food, or industrial powder batches.

Also known as: Vee cone blenders, V blenders, V-shell tumble blenders.

What this blender can help you do

Gentle redistribution

Assess a tumbling method where aggressive agitation could damage particles.

Accessible contact surfaces

Review the vessel openings, valve, and cleaning procedure between batches.

Lab-to-production choices

Define useful batch sizes and evaluate the appropriate vessel arrangement.

How the process works

1

Load the batch

Define the usable fill level and how ingredients enter the vessel.

2

Converge and divide

Rotation repeatedly brings the material together and separates it between the two cylinders.

3

Stop and discharge

Position the vessel for discharge through the selected valve.

Materials & industries

Pharmaceuticals & nutraceuticals

Dry powder and granular blends where cleaning, uniformity, and formulation control matter.

Food & ingredients

Suitable dry ingredients requiring gentle redistribution. Review flowability and potential segregation.

Industrial powders

Discuss chemical powders, plastics, ceramics, and powder metals against density and wear requirements.

Equipment and process detail

Review liquid dispersion and internal access

Munson offers an internal liquid-dispersion intensifier arrangement for suitable V-cone applications. These manufacturer photos show the internal assembly and a laboratory configuration. Use them to review access and the proposed mixing duty with RTS.

Configuration & selection

Batch and fill
Minimum and maximum useful batch volume, mass, bulk density, and ingredient proportions.
Material behaviour
Flowability, agglomeration, fragility, moisture, and segregation tendency.
Access and layout
Rotational swing envelope, loading and discharge heights, cleaning access, and services.

Options to discuss

  • Laboratory, pilot, and production arrangements
  • Cantilevered laboratory models with interchangeable vessels
  • Intensifier bar for suitable soft agglomerates
  • Liquid dispersion arrangements
  • Valve, finish, and contact-material choices
  • Cleaning, weighing, jackets, and controls review

Send your formulation, smallest and largest batches, bulk densities, liquid additions, current problem, and a process sketch. Describe how you will measure a successful blend.

Plan your application review

Is a V-cone blender suitable for sticky material or persistent agglomerates?

Gentle tumbling may not provide enough shear. Describe the actual lumps, adhesion, and liquid additions. An intensifier or another blending approach may be a better starting point for a trial.

How do we establish the required blend time?

Agree on ingredient proportions, the sampling method, and the acceptable variation. Review loading, mixing, discharge, and cleaning as a complete cycle. A representative material trial can help establish the operating target.

Can RTS help compare the blender types?

Share the formulation and constraints, including particle damage, cleanability, available space, and budget. RTS can review the alternatives with Munson and discuss the appropriate testing route.
